ASAC OFFERS YOU VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY!
ADVOCACY / GOVERNMENT RELATIONS:American Subcontractors Association California Inc. (ASAC) is your eye on the government. We’re watching to make sure laws that affect you as subcontractors are in YOUR favor.
This is the group that successfully sponsored Notice of Completion legislation!
Directed by the ASAC Government Relations Committee and Board of
Directors, a professional Legislative Advocate works on behalf of
subcontractors and suppliers in Sacramento. His job is to represent you
and your needs to the state legislature, and protect your interests.
Not everyone enjoys the political arena, and not everyone can
participate – ASAC provides people who can and will take on that
responsibility for you, so you can tend to your business.
This year the association is concentrating on Indemnification Reform so
each party on a project will only be liable for its share of fault. This
issue is a complicated one, and we are fortunate to have very competent
people on our Government Relations Committee who can speak for
subcontractors and suppliers at the various meetings being held as the
legislation moves through the political process.
GROUP PURCHASING:
Together American Subcontractor Association California members have
buying power! Participating in the group programs may save you more
money than you pay in dues!
NETWORKING:
ASAC brings subcontractors and suppliers together, because
no
company is in this industry alone.
All members are welcome at ASAC quarterly meetings, held alternately
in the northern and southern parts of the state. These meetings are
where decisions are made that affect you as subcontractors and
suppliers – issues are discussed and plans are made for legislative
work. From these meetings come the proactive government relations
stances taken by ASA California and promoted before the construction
industry and the state legislature.
EDUCATION:
You can’t run your business without knowing the latest laws and
methods. ASAC can help keep you and your employees informed.
Members receive the newsletter
"ASA/California" from the state
association along with timely faxes and news items. The website, www.asacalif.com has information to help your company stay connected
and up to date.
MARKETING:
The Board of Directors of ASAC has as its goal the marketing of ASAC
and its Members.
The Annual Membership Directory produced by ASAC includes members’
names and addresses, as well as their trades. This directory is
distributed to all other ASAC members, as well as the general
contractors affiliated with the various chapters of California.
In addition, each year ASAC is profiled in the
California
Construction magazine produced by McGraw-Hill and disseminated
throughout California. All members of ASAC are listed in the
profile, to show size and to market your company.
Both of these marketing pieces offer advertising opportunities to
our members and to the suppliers and service people who want to
reach the construction community.
As we gain name recognition for ASAC, we'll help promote your company as well.
Phone the ASA California office toll-free at 888-310-2722
for more information about any of these benefits.
"THANK YOU”, NCDCA AND URCA, FOR GOVERNMENT RELATIONS GRANTS
In addition to the funding the grants provide, ASAC also appreciates the groups for backing ASAC’s efforts by writing letters, making phone calls, and spreading the word when the issues need support.
NCDCA (Northern California Drywall Contractors Association) has been a supporter of ASAC since 1990 when the group joined the Bay Area Chapter and donated funding to ASAC. Gwynda Downing of NCDCA member company James R. Downing Inc., stepped right in to the fray as she helped lead the successful effort to amend the Business and Professions Code relating to contractors and prompt payment laws. She and ASAC were also instrumental in getting Change of Venue laws on the books, making contractors who work in California file their suits in California instead of their home state.
For the third year in a row, the Union Roofing Contractors Association has made a sizable donation to ASAC, with the intent of supporting ASAC legislative efforts at Indemnification Reform and Retention Payment Reform.
URCA has been a member of the ASA - LA-Orange County Chapter since 2005. Thanks to Ron Johnston, Ph.D., the association’s Executive Director, and to the individual URCA members who encourage their Board of Directors to make this monetary gesture.
